Women of the Word Bible Quilt® Journal: Applying Lessons We Learn from Them

Learning from history is a great way to develop a realistic perspective of how to manage our own challenging circumstances today.
As I've summarized stories in my "Women of the Word" Bible Quilt journal, I've been impacted by their strength through adversity, the poignant connections they make with one another, and their emphasis on family bonds.
I decided to create a section in my Women of the Bible journal for application purposes. I'm photocopying some previous pages or making notes to reference completed pages in other journals. This provides a place to gather passages of scripture that guide us regarding how we can encourage and support others in our community.
Caring for Widows
Sometimes this outreach may look like taking a widowed friend to lunch or offering an invitation to sit beside your family at church.
Other times it might be a women's group donating small items to fill seasonal goodie bags for widows at a local nursing home.
We can encourage one another in whatever season of life we're in, supporting those "ahead" and "behind" us. I love how we can use BQ pages to spread Scripture to others in creative ways.
Encouraging One Another
Simply offering to pray for someone and following up with a supportive text within a few days can strengthen bonds between us.
Attaching a photo of a BQ page reinforces a sense of community, combatting that feeling of isolation which pops up during stressful times.
Developing Friendships
Think about how Elizabeth and Mary resonated with one another during both of their miraculous pregnancies. Then consider who in YOUR life may be a companion in your current season.
Whatever season of life we're in, developing friendships is a wonderful way to stay grounded and to maintain a source of support.
Serving One Another
Any life transition (moving, new baby, loss of a parent) can be a golden opportunity to serve one another.
Our connections as women provide us with a way to collaborate to meet needs for a common purpose, using our personal strengths and insights.
