Women of the Word Bible Quilt® Journal: Mother of Samson

Continuing on in Judges, we learn about a couple who do not have any children. Manoah and his wife are visited by an angel who tells them they will indeed have a child, a son.

This is another example of an unnamed woman who plays an important role in the history of the Israelites. She bears a son who becomes the 12th judge. Most of us are familiar with his story through Sunday School lessons, but likely don't recall much about this woman who has struggled with barrenness.

Judges 13, learning about Samson's mother

This woman and Manoah have a couple dramatic encounters with an angel of the Lord. They are instructed to raise their son as a Nazarite. Their obedience to these strict limitations is a testament to their character.

Bible Quilting about Samson's mother

I estimated that I'd likely only need a partial page for this story because I didn't plan to go into Samson's adulthood.

I punched and inserted this page into my Women of the Word BQ Journal with a tab listing both of her family roles. Next up... Delilah!
