Women of the Word Bible Quilt® Journal: Jochebed & Pharaoh's Daughter

The birth story of Moses is quite remarkable, isn't it?
In a time of persecution, a desperate mother cleverly hid her infant son in a basket that she waterproofed to keep him safe in the water. Jochebed's courageous act saved his life and laid the foundation for him becoming a future leader of the Hebrew people.
Pharaoh's daughter rescued Moses and adopted him into her family. Imagine how her compassionate act toward this child was also a brave defiance against her father's wishes.
Both of these women were determined and acted boldly despite cultural norms. I included them on the same BQ page to show how their stories intertwined.

I selected a pastel sheet of card stock, added washi tape to the top of the page, then punched it with a Happy Planner punch to insert it into my disc-bound Women of the Word Bible Quilt Journal.
I wrote out the passages from Exodus to summarize their stories, as well as the mention of Jochebed in Numbers 26. She was the mother of 3 strong-willed children who became prophets. Think of how the bond between Moses and Aaron reflects the values she instilled in them - - - as well as the unique characteristics we learn about their sister Miriam along the way.

I've developed a journal specifically on this genre, Women of the Word for this unique type of scripture writing. You're invited to follow along and personalize your own devotional resource!
