Women of the Word Bible Quilt® Journal: Deborah

Deborah was not only a judge, but also a prophetess. She carried a lot of responsibilities as a female leader in a male-dominated culture. Her story is interesting and dramatic, so I wanted to capture it in my Women of the Word BQ Journal.

I opted for colored card stock inserted into Women of the Word BQ Journal, a disc-bound system that allows me to add more pages or to move them around as needed.

Since this lesson was from the Women of the Word Bible Journaling Conference, I utilzed some bold printables offered from the speaker, Michele Winter with Fire Filled Creations. I printed these on clear full page label sheets to make stickers of her images.

I took notes from her lesson and also wrote in verses, dividing them with various stitch lines to create quilt blocks.

I doodled and placed thin strips of washi to balance out the page.

Deborah's storyline is intertwined with Jael's, so I'll be working on her page next.

Whenever characters are closely tied to others in a passage you're studying, you may choose to do a BQ page on them together or in sequence in your BQ journal.

Women of the Bible

I was inspired to make a set of tabs to use as I create BQ pages on Women of the Bible.

Whether you're attending a Bible study which is focused on a character or a book of the Bible or you're doing an independent study, these tabs can provide you with a quick way to categorize your journal.

Attach these directly to your BQ page or use washi tape to add it to a page protector if you're using a 3-ring binder.

Another option is to use a Happy planner punch system and build your journal over time. This is what I'm currently doing for the Bible study I'm in this year
