Women of the Word Bible Quilt® Journal: Queen of Sheba

Updated: Oct 30

Do you like to travel? What is the main purpose of your trips?

Our next character seems to have been motivated to travel all the way to Jerusalem out of a keen curiosity about Solomon, and even more importantly to witness the blessings bestowed on him from the God of Israel. Let's explore the journey of the Queen of Sheba together.

Queen of Sheba, page 1, in Women of the Bible journal

It's interesting that this adventurous queen is unnamed, but perhaps that opens the perspective for her to be a more universal observer - - - allowing us to glimpse what she witnessed?

Her entourage and arrival must have been quite the spectacle. I love her apparent grit - that she just had to see with her own eyes how Solomon had developed his kingdom and admired how impacted she was at even the servants' happiness. Her generosity appears to have been unequaled. She came prepared to offer what she had to someone who didn't "need" these things because he had so much in abundance already.

Her legacy continues into the New Testament as she is mentioned in Matthew by Jesus Himself.

Tamar, page 2, with notes in progress

Since the amount of text on her was brief, I started with a 1/2 page and added a tab. I used gold accents to highlight this mutual interaction of royalty.

I tucked her page page into my Women of the Word BQ Journal after Abishag and before Jezebel as I continue to proceed through 1 & 2 Kings.
