As one of only five women mentioned in the geneology of Jesus, it's important to acknowledge the storyline of Tamar.
Tamar
I selected a pastel sheet of card stock, added washi tape to the top of the page, then punched it with a Happy Planner punch to insert it into my disc-bound Women of the Word Bible Quilt Journal.
I attached a tab and used an element from one of the Women of the Bible templates for a female figure as illustration.
Since she was a Canaanite, Tamar was already considered an outsider. To complicate things further, Tamar became a widow...twice.
I summarized the remainder of Tamar's story from Genesis 38 as well as the geneaology from Matthew 1.
Once I had completed the scripture writing, I added notes and reflections using a different color.

I finished off the page with simple embellishments, utilizing strips of washi tape to define sections. All of these little steps provide me with a colorful synopsis of Tamar's story that I can quickly review in the future as I'm connecting the dots between characters in the Bible.
I've developed a journal specifically on this genre, Women of the Bible, for this unique type scripture writing. I invite you to follow along and welcome you to personalize your own devotional resource!
