1 Kings is the 11th book of the Old Testament and is categorized as one of the Historical books of the Bible. It is a record of King Solomon's reign as well as subsequent kings.
This book chronicles the division of the kingdom for its first 100 years. In it we learn about the prophet Elijah and his attempts to confront King Ahab and wife, Jezebel.
One of the main themes of 1 Kings is the spiritual decline of Israel's monarchy after David.
David had advised Solomon:
"observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to Him, and keep His decrees and commands, His laws and regulations...Do this so that you may prosper in all you do..." 1 Kings 2:3
Bible Quilting 1 Kings

As a nod to royalty, I used gold washi tape, stickers, and pens to embellish my page.
Metallic markers - for bold gold
Metallic gel roller pens - for finer touches

I highlighted some of the main characters by doodling circles around their names. I may go back and add more shading to finish it out.
Additionally, I took notes on the 1 Kings template as well as the poster from The BibleProject.
You may be inspired to explore characters such as Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, or Obadiah by creating separate BQ pages on them. This would be a good way to do a compare-and-contrast style page.
Perhaps you'd like to do a character study on the Queen of Sheba or even Jezebel in your Women of the Bible journal.
All these overlaps of reading, scripture writing, and illustrating will provide us with a deeper understanding of Biblical history and insights about God's faithfulness as He works through flawed people.
In 1 Kings we learn that obedience to God brings blessing while idolatry brings judgment. Let's continue on into 2 Kings together to see what lessons are tucked in there for us!
