1 Samuel is the 9th book of the Old Testament and is categorized as one of the historical books of the Bible.
It is a record of Israel's history from the birth of Samuel through the death of Saul; and it covers David's trials before he became king.
This book begins by describing Hannah's fervent prayers and her dedication of Samuel to be brought up by the priests.
One of the main threads of this book is Saul's reign as king and the dynamic stories of David slaying Goliath, etc. Ultimately Saul's jealousy of David rises to the point of attempted assassination of David twice. This is a book full of dramatic events!
Bible Quilting 1 Samuel

Samuel grew up in the church and gained leadership as a priest. As the last judge, he faced many challenges especially as the Israelites clamored to have a king. He appealed to them, assuring them of God's faithfulness in spite of their decision.
"Serve the Lord with all your heart..." 1 Samuel 12:20

Once I completed the #scripturewriting on my summary page, I added some washi tape and shading to help delineate the sections of the quilt blocks.
I took notes on the 1 Samuel template as well as on the BibleProject poster page.
In addition to summarizing the book, you may be inspired to explore characters like Hannah, Saul, and Samuel more in-depth on separate BQ pages.
As you read through Samuel, you may want to highlight keywords or verses that impact you. Consider that these dynamic characters are not unidimensional and that many lessons can be gleaned as their flaws are exposed.
