Our Living Hope

Gathering together with other women for a day of fellowship and solid Biblical teaching is a wonderful way to fill up our spiritual tank, isn't it?

ree

Typically before a conference, I print out a template and hole-punch it to insert into my disc-bound Bible study journal. (Sometimes I'll just take a couple BQ pages on a clipboard.)

Since "hope" was in the title of the conference, I selected the Hope balloon.

I adhered stickers which were provided in the welcome packet to capture the info about the conference. This helped illustrate and structure the pages.

The Lord is my shepherd…

Our Refuge and Strong Tower

When a tragedy occurs or we're faced with a difficult challenge, it's comforting to seek solace in the Word.

I love these verses encouraging us that God is our ultimate Refuge.

Taste & See...

Recently we had a women's event that was basically a potluck with the theme "Taste & See..."

"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him." Psalm 34:8

Taste and See page in my Original Bible Quilt Journal

Before the event I created this BQJ page, using a colorful photo of a charcuterie spread from our son's engagement party a few years ago. I pulled out all the food-related washi tape I had to make a colorful border around the page.

I simply incorporated it as part of table decor as a reminder for the focus of our event.

Grow in Faith; Pass on Hope

For one of my blank pages this month in the Monthly BQJ, I highlighted our intention to share the love of Christ with the next generation.

From one generation to another, when we pass on our love of Scripture, we pass on HOPE.

What's inspiring you this month??

Home, a Place of Love and Rest

I had this cute printable about home hanging out in my digital files for a while and this month I was inspired to print it out to use it on one of my blank BQ pages. I chose to print it on photo paper for the glossy finish, then used some bold floral stickers to help balance out the page.

Using Memorabilia in my Bible Quilt Journal

Sometimes I've explained Bible Quilting as "scripture scrapbooking" because it uses a lot of the same materials. It provides me with a place to tuck in some sentimental pieces of memorabilia with scriptures that are resonating with me.

Recently as I sorted through some birthday cards, I decided to incorporate one onto a blank page in my Monthly Bible Quilt Journal.

Adding birthday card onto Bible Quilt Journal page

I secured it onto the page and reinforced it with washi tape, then used the same washi tape to make a bold border around the perimeter of the page.

I added a photo, jotted down a prayer and some of my devotional goals for the year, then added some scriptures to the other side.

O Come let us Adore Him

Scrapbookers... have any decorative paper you're not quite sure how to incorporate photos onto?

I had this 12 x 12 card stock with a glittery Adore in the lower corner and just didn't know what to do with it.

The other day I decided I could trim it down to fit my Monthly BQJ to make a simple Christmas-y page.

The First Noel

A while back while decluttering some of my scrapbook materials, I uncovered a booklet that had all kinds of decorative tabs in it. I cut out the letters to spell Noel as a title and tucked them into my 2023 Monthly BQJ. Last week I rediscovered them and began working on this page.

The cute little nativity stickers are from a set I found at Hobby Lobby. (It's probably a Paper Studios pack.)

I drew around thee stickers to provide some grounding and sketched out an amateurish stable.

Lead me in YOUR Truth

What are you creating on your blank pages this month?

As we progressed through the scriptures in our #31daysoftruth series, I wrote select verses that impacted me on one of the blank pages in my Monthly Bible Quilt Journal.

Our Father

Bible Quilt Journal page on God the Father

As Father's Day weekend approaches, I find myself reflecting on my relationship with God the Father. He's so compassionate and patient with me, always there to listen even when I forget to seek Him first.

Our earthly fathers can fail us, leaving us feeling insecure and adrift. But our heavenly Father is the ultimate Protector of us, especially when we're feeling weak or lost.

Here's a #biblequiltjournal page I did several years ago that might help you get some creativity sparked for doing some pages on the Trinity, Abba Father, or prayers to our Father in Heaven.

His Banner of Radical Love

I received this pretty note with a scripture and inspirational quote a while back and have had it on my whiteboard for a month or so.

Today I was reflecting on it and decided to make a #biblequiltjournal page using it as a starter point.

ree

I had some hand-punched banner flags floating around on my desk, so I used those across the top of page for a touch of whimsy.

Then it was simply a matter of capturing some verses that went along with the inspiration piece, stitching with colors that were complimentary with the quote page.

***This is a quick way to complete a blank page and even provides a “home” for notes/cards you receive from others.

Bless the Lord, O My Soul

Sometimes I like to explore a variety of translations for a particular verse, especially the soothing Psalms.

Here's an example of how you can make a BQ page on one passage but show a variety of translations:

Psalm 103:1-5 in Bible Quilt Journal
Psalm 103: 1-5

I happened to have two versions already typed out, so I pasted those onto decorative card stock to make some pretty quilt squares. Then I filled in the remaining white space with portions of two other translations. I added some stitch lines and a few sticker embellishments to finish it off.

If you'd like to compare translations for this passage or one similar, here's a template for you:

Enough

As we focused on God's provision throughout the month of October, I reflected on how He gives us just enough...when we need it and how we need it.

I used the BQJ Sticker Plus sheet to help me illustrate this collection of grateful sentiments on God's provision of enough...as we trust in Him for our daily needs in all circumstances.

ENOUGH page in my Bible Quilt journal, using stickers

In our culture of "hurry" and "abundance," He knows when we've had enough.... and gives us REST.

I'm grateful for all the nuances of His provision. What impacted you from October's series on provision?

Armor of God: daily & diligently

I've been exploring scriptures on spiritual warfare through a study provided by Sojo Academy this month and have enjoyed "stitching" all these great verses together in my Bible Quilt Journal as a summary resource.

ree
"Becoming Battle Ready" - page 1 in my Bible Quilt Journal

We probably all have some familiarity with the "Armor of God" passage in Ephesians, but I love to see other verses nestled in to reinforce the strength we have through the Word of God.

ree

My Bible reading plan for the year has me in Joshua right now and all the exhortations "to be strong and courageous" have made even more impact as I see these threads woven throughout the New Testament, too.

I've been reminded of the importance of putting on this armor DAILY and to be diligent in "readjusting my armor" throughout the day to trudge forward on the Lord's path, not mine.

Abundance

As Thanksgiving approaches, our focus often turns toward gratitude and appreciation for what we have and who is gathering around our tables.

ree

Even in a year that is unlike any other in our memories, it's good to stop and acknowledge God's provision even amidst loss and suffering.

CALL to ME

A friend posted a passage from Jeremiah 33 recently. This morning while I was reading it, that phrase "CALL to ME" just kept pressing into my spirit. Now, more than ever, we need to CALL upon HIM to be restored.

"Call to me and I WILL ANSWER YOU

and tell you great and unsearchable things

you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3

ree

So grateful that the Lord is our REFUGE and we can CALL UPON HIM in our days of trouble.

Each Day

I titled this page “Each Day” because I feel like we need to come to the Lord and His Word to replenish in Him daily. Our souls are weary with heavy news re: the pandemic and racial turbulence. We often feel helpless. Sometimes all I can do is pray scripture: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2 This #biblequiltjournal page is simple with only 3 verses, but ones that boost me in the right direction especially on troubled mornings. What are YOUR go-to verses each day?

Alpha and Omega

It took me two years to finish my original Bible Quilt journal. I had "the end" on my mind, so that's how I came up with this theme (I think).

The photo quality is not great...and this was before I had discovered Papermate Flair pens, so it's just a couple G-2 pens. Sometimes simplicity reminds us just to focus on the weight of the message we're writing!

Names of Jesus

If you like to follow along with 30-day, 40-day or even 100-day series on social media, you can find them on a variety of topics and get a verse a day fed into your feed.

These pages were from a "100 Days of Jesus" series I followed a couple years ago. I knew it would be at least a 2-page spread and that I would mainly focus on the name title and reference rather than writing a full verse.

ree
Names of Jesus, page 1, in my Bible Quilt Journal

I opted to alternate adding a name on each page so that I would have a mix of alphabet verses on each side. When I prop it on a counter, I've got a variety of letters represented on both sides.

ree

I had stickers for several of the names, so I incorporated these wherever I could to help save space and to add variety.

Mercy

Here's a quick overview of the process I did for my #mercy page:

ree

I like using simple stencils to create a variety of shapes throughout my #biblequiltjournal. Stencils are a great way to highlight titles or theme verses.

ree

Since the stickers have been in place for a while, I couldn't shade with colored pencil underneath. I opted to use a few colors to shade and soften the edges around the perimeter of the stenciled shape.

I began searching for verses and adding them to the page, using similar "stitch lines" as already printed in the journal to provide some continuity.
