Getting Scrappy

Have y'all decorated the Crazy Quilt Block pattern in your Jan 2022 BQ Calendar yet?

With all the fun shapes in the design, I decided to pull out some scrap paper and create a patchwork quilt background before adding any verses.

Once I had the papers cut to size, I glued them down and colored the perimeter with pastel colored pencils.

Next I wrote in verses from a book I've been browsing again, When Mothers Pray. The eclectic mix of verses was just what this patchwork page called for!

Christmas Tree, Page in Progress

Sometimes it takes us a little while to get a page completed. And that's OK!

I started this Christmas tree a few weeks ago by ripping a scrapbook paper into a triangular shape, leaving the edges rough. I glued it onto the journal page and added a few stickers.

Then about a week later, I received a generic Christmas card with some ornaments on it and cut one out to use as a tab for this Christmas-y page. I added some other stickers that I had out on my desk for another project... then went on my merry way to something else.

Last week after my devotional reading, I turned to this page again to add a verse that kept resonating with me. I drew in some stitch lines, played around with a white gel pen, and slipped a little washi tape on there, too.

Each Day

I titled this page “Each Day” because I feel like we need to come to the Lord and His Word to replenish in Him daily. Our souls are weary with heavy news re: the pandemic and racial turbulence. We often feel helpless. Sometimes all I can do is pray scripture: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2 This #biblequiltjournal page is simple with only 3 verses, but ones that boost me in the right direction especially on troubled mornings. What are YOUR go-to verses each day?
