Joseph

Like many of you, I resumed a daily Bible reading plan at the beginning of the year and have been reading in Genesis. THIS year I finally completed a page on the cute template my sister-in-law designed several years ago.
Joseph's Coat of Many Colors
I punched the top of the template to insert into my Journaling Through the Word BQJ, tucking it into the Genesis section. I outlined the page with some colorful washi tape and simply began by shading in the coat with various colored pencils.
Since I've got more of Joseph's narrative already captured on my page in the Journaling the Word BQJ, I selected verses that highlighted the story of him receiving this coat as his Dad's favorite son and noting the jealous reactions this evoked in his brothers.
I used similar marker colors to correspond to the coat, opting not to write anything actually within the coat's design.
This dramatic tale of a young boy being ostracized and mistreated by his own siblings is one that catches at the heartstrings. Joseph was isolated from his family and thrown into a different environment...he was falsely accused and thrown in prison...each twist of the story leading to something else.
YET God used it all for good.
"You intended to harm me but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children." And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them." Genesis 50:19-21
What a tale of redemption and a reminder of the BIG PICTURE God has planned! May we patiently wait with steadfast faith to see how it all unfolds...

I'll be sharing more of my process throughout the year as I journal my way through the entire Bible.
Here's how I'm integrating my Joseph page in with my Genesis materials:
