A couple years ago, my son and I took a trip to the Northeast and we enjoyed seeing all the vibrant autumn colors.
One afternoon between college campus tours, he navigated me through some small towns and winding roads to an apple orchard.
We roamed up and down the long rows of apple trees, amazed at all the varieties and breathing in the sweet aromas.
The air was crisp and invigorating, inspiring us to romp around and be silly. Since we had been traveling all day it was a great way to stretch out all the kinks!
We had the place mostly to ourselves, so we embraced the freedom to wander and explore.
We poked around in the sales barn, selecting some tasty jams to take home with us. Our grand finale was a spontaneous purchase of freshly baked apple cider donuts which we devoured on the way to our next destination across another state line.
It was a great day to rejoice in the delights of fall surrounding us in a blaze of colors, textures and aromas that we greedily absorbed as shared memories between just the two of us.
As the glories of autumn fall upon us once again, I'm reminded of that special trip and the treasured time we spent together. (Happy 19th bday to my fellow orchard adventurer!)
Is FALL your favorite time of year?
I'm always struck by how beautifully the Lord orchestrates the various elements of these seasonal shifts to impact us year after year.
"This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
I plucked this cute little apple template from my files and decided to use this uplifting verse on it. (Thanks, Alice, for this wonderful fall design!)
I spaced out the words and loosely did a pattern of apple-ish colors. I used stickers to highlight the word REJOICE.
I finished the page by stamping some acorns and coloring them in.
What are you rejoicing in these days? Ready to try out this template to harvest your joyful scriptur?
I'd love to see your pages-in-progress! Join on our next Zoom chat and we'll have a little show-and-share time!
