2 Kings is the 12th book of the Old Testament and is categorized as one of the Historical books of the Bible. Keep in mind it was actually one document with 1 Kings, so it's a continuation of the monarchy's ups and downs.
One author described its main theme as "dispersion" due to the fact the nations succomb to invaders, resulting in exile.
An interesting "side" story is the literal passing of the mantle from Elijah to Elisha. I've always considered Elisha's request to have twice the portion of Elijah's spirit as particularly audacious.
Bible Quilting 2 Kings
I managed to squeeze this book summary all onto one page, but I likely wouldn't do it this way again! I tried to capture the essence of the miracles in addition to main events.

I used gold washi tape, stickers, and pens to embellish my page. I may go back and add more shading to finish it out later.

As you proceed through the book, you may be inspired to explore characters such as Elijah, Elisha, or Josiah more in-depth by creating separate BQ pages on them.

As you read through 2 Kings, you may want to highlight keywords such as the passover or covenant, revealing the faithfulness of God to keep renewing His promises to these stubborn, flawed people.
I jotted notes from various sources on the 2 Kings template, which you can see in this overview video:
What are YOU gleaning from these historical books? How has your perspective of kings changed as you've seen all types of characters displayed?
