Refuge

If you have the Original Bible Quilt Journal, there are some pages following the #fruitofthespirit section that have some simple borders that provide an easy way to start a BQ page.

On this baseball stitch border page I added the "refuge" tab from the tag tab set, punching a hole in it to slide a ribbon through it for texture. Then I began writing scripture in the top lefthand corner, selecting verses on the topic of refuge.

I maintained a similar color palette of natural blues and greens to evoke a soothing feel to the overall page. I used a stencil to do one verse inside a circle to break up the blockiness, adding a strip of washi or a sticker occasionally to balance out the text.

Tip: For consistency, you could separate each of the verses with a baseball stitch. That approach would also decrease decision fatigue re: how…

Bible Reading Tracker

Those Bible reading plans are SO shiny & new on Jan 1st... but we may need some visual umph to help motivate us to keep going on cold, wintry days.

I love using the #biblereadingtracker to monitor my reading progress. And this year I'll use it to track my progress Bible Quilting the books of the Bible.

I've had some women use these templates as a printable coloring sheet for their kiddos learning the order of the books of the Bible. How are YOU using it these days?

A great partner to the Bible reading tracker is the flip card set for all the books of the Bible. As you read, enter details on the flip card. Later on you can transfer your info to a BQ page.

Getting started on something new can be somewhat daunting. Having reread Genesis this month as part of my Bible reading plan, I've been contemplating this verse about the Spirit of God hovering over the waters.

Perhaps as vulnerable beginners, we can pray for the Spirit of God to hover over us and gain courage to take the first steps in a new journey. 🙏

What experience do YOU have starting something new and discovering something about yourself in the process?

Simply Grace

On a morning walk during our vacation week in Colorado, I enjoyed a patch of sunflowers along the path. Initially the brilliant color of the sunny petals caught my eye, but then I was struck by the tight bud of a secondary bloom about to unfurl.

As I continued my walk, I praised God for the beauty of His nature that he unfolds freely for us ------ much as He does with His grace.

When I returned to our vacation rental, I pulled out my son's Bible Quilt Journal I had brought along in my BQ tote.

Grace, page in progress

Since I arleady had the Grace tab attached, I could immediately begin harvesting scriptures on this topic.
