Color in the Elements to Kickstart your Pages

Sometimes we may have an idea for a page, but the clarity re: pulling it off is vague. I've found that a way to kickstart momentum for my pages is to begin by coloring in the elements.

Coloring in the Christmas bulbs on the Joy to the World BQJ template

For example, I shaded in the lights on this Christmas-y page a while back then stalled out on the next step.

Recently as I was flipping through this particular BQ journal, I realized I needed some background color on the page.

I used a ruler to draw in lines diagonally. I think it helps the ornaments and lights pop out a little more to feature them when I write in verses later.

Love the ‘wallpaper’ look. It really makes the bulbs pop.

Summarizing a Podcast Episode: Benediction

Recently I listened to this talk on Benediction by Tim Keller which was broadcast on the Gospel in Life Podcast.

Although many of us may be familiar with this passage from Numbers 6, we may not realize the weight of this as a blessing upon each of us as it is spoken over us.

My Process

I drew a banner along the top of the BQ page to make my title, then simply used a large circle stencil in which to provide structure for the passage from Numbers.
