Names of God: El Roi

As we progress through our Names of God study this month, you might find yourself wandering into a little deeper like I did recently.

On #day2 we read about El Roi:

Hagar gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have now seen the One who sees me." Genesis 16:13

Hagar, page started in Bible Quilt Journal

I started a BQ page summarizing Hagar's unique story, which is intertwined so deeply with the more familiar one of Abraham and Sarah.

Take heart

Today's verse in our 31 Days of Steadfastness is so applicable for these days of unrest in Afghanistan and continuing heartbreak of pandemic stories.

"I have told you these things, so that IN ME you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

As we encounter these daily verses, I'd encourage you to incorporate them into your BQ journals in different ways so that you see them in a broader perspective.

If one of the main action words in the verse resonates with you, you can add it into your ABC journal.

And we are moving right into our next word: believe. It’s a time to trust God and His promises.

Spur one another on...

In our Zoom chat this morning, we talked about how to invite children into Bible Quilting. As I was reflecting on the discussion, I realized that it comes down to sharing our hearts with sincerity.

We're all going to approach things differently...and those kiddos are certainly going to receive things in their own unique way, aren't they? So the foundation is simply sharing the Word and offering some basic process steps to get them started.

I used our "swirly" technique practice sheet to do a BQ page summarizing my thoughts.

This verse from 1st Timothy seemed to be a good one to sum up our intentions to share with family members, so I used it as a focus verse with a heart-shaped cutout.

Post-it Prayers

Remember back in the spring when we were doing post-it pages? I did a few pages then that I left them blank to use for a later time. (I think I told you this is a great travel tip to prep pages with your supplies at home, then you'll be able to fill in scripture while you're gone.)

This morning while my crew was still asleep and I was having a slower time getting engaged in my Quiet Time, I flipped to one of those prepped post-it pages from a few months ago. The little sticker "Hey God, it's me" nudged me as I stared at the blank sticky notes.

That phrase kick-started me to seek out some scriptures related to daily prayer.

We often use post-it notes for reminders, don't we?
