Spur one another on...

In our Zoom chat this morning, we talked about how to invite children into Bible Quilting. As I was reflecting on the discussion, I realized that it comes down to sharing our hearts with sincerity.

We're all going to approach things differently...and those kiddos are certainly going to receive things in their own unique way, aren't they? So the foundation is simply sharing the Word and offering some basic process steps to get them started.

I used our "swirly" technique practice sheet to do a BQ page summarizing my thoughts.

This verse from 1st Timothy seemed to be a good one to sum up our intentions to share with family members, so I used it as a focus verse with a heart-shaped cutout.

"...the goal of our instruction is LOVE from a pure heart

and a good conscience and a sincere faith." 1 Timothy 1:5

I started with the 3 quilt squares with post-it notes, using the same marker colors in each. I added stitches around the heart, but let the pre-stitched squares do the rest.

The background swirls can stand alone...or have verses added over them.

I used a heavier black pen to hand letter on top of the swirls. Hmmm...I ended up finding scriptures that all began with "let us..."

Let us...

Again, this seems like a good reminder when sharing #biblequilting: it's the "us" as a community, coming alongside one another to learn more about the Word and making it accessible to the next generation in a variety of ways. It's partnering with them to nudge them along in their journey while deepening our own.

Next I glued the post-it template onto my #biblequiltjournal page and added some washi tape around it as a reinforcing border. Then I placed a few stickers to fill in some of the blank spaces and a tab to finish it off!

Now I have a sweet summary page of our BQ #zoomchat, tying up some of the threads of our morning conversation.

"...let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." Hebrews 10:24

Thanks for spurring me on with your encouragement and enthusiasm, friends! I appreciate YOU.
