Lifting up our eyes...to the Most High

Updated: Sep 30, 2019

In the midst of our struggles, we tend to put our heads down and stubbornly muddle through the current messy situation we're in. We can get mired down and narrow our focus so much that we only see the problem, allowing its weight to sink us further down into the muck.

Sometimes we need to look up from our current struggle to gain perspective...maybe even a mountain perspective?

M is for... mountains

As I was working on my "M" pages in my ABC Bible Quilt journal last month, I sketched out a little mountain range and decided to do a mountain-themed page. As this page developed, these verses began to shape my viewpoint differently...

"I lift up my eyes to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121: 1-2

As the ultimate creator of majestic mountains, indeed the Lord is capable of helping us manage our day-to-day problems...even our biggest challenges. His unfailing love is a constant despite our shaky situations.

M is for... Most High

When we stall out and try to be self-reliant to solve problems we're facing, these verses are a good reminder to cling to our faith - - - even as small as a mustard seed - - and turn it over to God.

The Lord has eternal perspective and sees the much broader picture than wherever we may be...so, doesn't it make sense to release our struggles to the Most High who has the supreme vantage point and power over all?

"M" page in my ABC Bible Quilt Journal

It's always amazing to me how the Lord works through this process of writing His scripture.

What began as a quest for "mountain" verses on my "M is for..." page, He provided comfort, strength, and insight.

I hope through your Bible Quilting process that you discover new perspectives, too!
