Fake Laminating your BQJ tabs

I don't know about you, but my #biblequiltjournal tabs really get some wear and tear over time, especially on the journal I take with me to church and Bible study.

I love, love, love using my laminator for craft projects. I've used it for full sets of BQJ tabs, but seldom have enough to warrant a full laminating sheet. When the project is too small...or if you don't have accesss to a laminator, there IS another option.

Let me tell you about my trick to do a little "fake" laminating!

All you need is some clear packing tape and a pair of scissors:

How different is the 2021 monthly journal from the 2020? Debating on if I can/should buy the new one. ive bought most of the quilt page templates already... hmmmm I’m so torn!!

Glam it up

My go-to Bible is one that my Mom and sibs gave me back in 1999. It has seen me through the last bit of my graduate work, the birth of three children, two house moves, and so much more.

I've got a tiny pencil mark checking off each chapter of the Bible when I read it straight through with my son when he turned 13. Notes in the margin bring back a host of memories from different churches I've attended throughout the years.

I didn't know my trusty Bible needed a little glam...until my sis-in-law gave me some colorful vinyl tabs!

Bible tabs

I spent part of a morning earlier this week listening to a Netflix show and attaching these cuties to each introductory page of the books of the Bible.

Keeping your supplies handy

We are all on the move, carpooling kiddos around and running errands. Sometimes when I've got a gap in between activities, I'll snag a few minutes to add a couple verses to my #biblequiltjournal.

I keep this tote bag stocked with basic supplies: Bible, my current Bible Quilt journal, washi tape (a larger binder ring keeps it secure on the handle), Papermate flair pens tucked in on one side and colored pencils on the other side. I keep a pair of scissors and a post-it notepad in the end pockets.

Depending on where I'm at and how much time I have, I might be creative with writing verses on a page or I might add some doodling to pages-in-progress. Sometimes I'm surrounded by too many distractions and I'll just add swatches of washi tape throughout the journal.
