Verse Mapping with a Bible Quilt journaling twist

Have you tried verse mapping?

I recently did verse mapping with a #biblequiltjournal twist, using the frame template.

I started by writing out the scriptures from the passage 2 Corinthians 1:3-5, leaving plenty of space for comments and notes.

I expanded upon the meanings of key words, which I boxed in to highlight them. Then I added the definitions offset in a bubble with a different color. I waited to add my stitch lines until I had finished adding in these extra phrases.

You could also look up different versions of the passage and write those in for comparison.

After looking up the cross references, I chose James 1:17 to add as a supplemental verse to the page.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above,

coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,

who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17

The 2 Corinthians passage highlights the reciprocity of comfort. We receive it from God so that we can give it to others. It's like a perpetual gift that keeps on getting passed along. (the ultimate in re-gifting!😉)

In the study I was doing, I resonated with the reminder that comfort is a gift to be shared. That helped me define the title of this page as the GIFT of COMFORT. Since this page faces a page in my journal about my Mom sharing the love of Christ, this "fit" well with the flow of my pages, too.

I had some gift stickers available so I added these as a finishing touch.

That's it! You can always go deeper or get more elaborate in your illustrations. Grab a BQ template and put your own spin on it!
