As my young friend, Charlotte, says, "Washi tape is our secret weapon, Ms. Dianna!"
Yep, you can do a LOT of wonderful things with washi tape! I learn something new each time I'm Bible Quilting with others. It's always a fun show-and-tell as people are chatting about their latest finds!
Washi tape can be cut or simply torn. It can be repositioned easily. There are so many bright colors and patterns...something for everyone!
I have learned though that all washi tape does not always have the same quality. If you encounter some that's not staying stuck down, slide a glue stick across the underneath side of the washi tape and it that should do the trick!
One of my favorite tips re: washi tape is to use it to cover up misspellings or words that you've written that aren't quite where you intended. (Often we're talking & write a word we've said/heard rather than the next word in the scripture verse we're trying to get down on the page!)
Simply tear off a piece of washi tape to cover up the mistake, then continue writing your verse. If you add another piece of that same washi tape somewhere else on the page, then it looks like you "planned" it! 😉
You can find washi tape at craft stores, online, Target, Wal-Mart. I include a set in the Bible Quilt Bonus kits in the shop to get you started.
It's handy to have a small collection of washi tape on a binder ring or embroidery hoop to carry along with your Bible Quilting supplies.
---->>> This ring is about 3 inches in diameter and holds just about the right amount of washi!
I clip it onto my canvas tote and I'm ready to Bible Quilt on-the-go.
If you have multiple Bible Quilters in your house, check out these large embroidery hoops that my friend and her daughter adapted for their washi tape collection:
My sons have become VERY aware of this washi tape phenomenon. One of them recently came home from a youth group game night which was held at a Bible Quilter's house and said, "Mom, washi tape is contagious!!" He then showed me a photo of her collection out on the table where she was creating some pages. Yep, washi tape IS a wonderland of fun!
