In the past we've done guided activities using a cute Advent box and pulling out a slip of paper with an activity to do each night. The boys loved the anticipation of reading beloved stories together, watching a Christmas movie, making hot chocolate, or helping decorate Christmas cookies. As they got older we adapted the activities to what would continue to capture their interest.
For the past several years, we've read a chapter of Luke each night of December leading up to Christmas. It provides us with a reminder not only of the birth of Jesus but also His entire ministry with a wide variety of people.
